1) The society in which Guy Montag Resides in is a future under the rule of a Government that has banned Books, of all things, and his job as a fireman is to Burn all books that remain, to start fires instead of putting them out.
2) Clarisse is more observant than other people in society, and is more curious about the time when Firemen put out fires and you could read without prosecution than the avergae citizen, which make Montag suspicious.
3) The mechanical Hound is Programmed to react to Montag Because his wife's companionship is not enough to make him fell whole, similar to how Gatsby didn't feel whole, so he threw parties.
