Letter to a Mentor

   Please note: The Mentor I need has been dead for 216 years.

  Dear Mr. Washington,

  I have a question--a BIG question--Do we actually need a national government? Couldn't each state/Territory Gov't keep each other equal through checks and balances? With multiple Governments controlling the country, there's a smaller chance of one Corrupt leader screwing the country over, right? I know that you worked hard to set up our National government the way it is, but it's so screwed up now the country's falling apart. If you could read this 240 years ago, would you please change it?
